Food Safety and Standards Authority of India was established in 2006 under the Food Safety and Standards Act which provides licence to the food industry if they pass the quality and hygiene standards of the food sold by them. Be it packed food items like snacks, chocolate, meals and so on or food that is sold by the restaurants and food outlets.

It is highly unlikely that you have never come across the FSSAI logo that is printed on the wrapper or covering of any food product. If you doubt, check the chocolates, chips, snacks, cold drinks or any other food item you have right now. We are sure that you will see it. Even after the lockdown lifted up, the sitting plan was changed by many restaurants as customers preferred secluded or less crowded sitting spaces. For the hygiene and food security, FSSAI and Indian govt, only allowed a specific proportion and distancing instructions which put a major burden and impacted the restaurants during the pandemic.
